before they disappear
The Nalu Film Foundation is dedicated to preserving, protecting and sharing the world's most significant action sports film archives, starting with rare 16mm surf reels shot on Hawaii's North Shore. These collections are an irreplaceable record of action sports culture, honoring the athletes, filmmakers and communities who shaped it.
Without active preservation, film degrades and this history disappears. The Nalu Film Foundation exists to make sure that doesn't happen.

In the '80s and '90s, visionary filmmakers captured skateboarding's explosive growth and shaped the sport's identity. We plan to preserve this history too, from VHS tapes and 16mm film to early digital footage.
Snowboarding film archives
Films documenting the rise of snowboarding pushed the boundaries of action sports cinematography. We plan to preserve the athletes, mountains and pioneering filmmakers who took the sport global.
