Motion-picture film runs through our Blackmagic Cintel scanner frame by frame. Old videotapes are digitized before they fail, slides and prints are scanned at high resolution. Every item is catalogued, tagged with its ID and backed up.

The Nalu Vault began with Sonny's archive: The Search, Searching for Tom Curren, and decades of raw 16mm. More than 350,000 feet are scanned. Hundreds of reels are still waiting.

Filmmakers and families entrust us with film, tape and photos before they are lost.
Motion picture film is scanned frame by frame on our Cintel. Videotapes are digitized. Slides and photographic prints are transferred to digital format at high resolution.
Every reel, tape and slide gets an ID that matches its files, so any shot can be found and pulled.
Restored films stream on Nalu TV, and licensing income goes back into the work.

We tell the story.
Through Nalu, we restore classic surf films and produce original documentaries. Our team made the award-winning Fiberglass and Megapixels (2010). Next, we're turning the Vault into new stories: interviews with the legends, docuseries and feature documentaries. More than 200 films now stream on Nalu TV.
