Our mission is to preserve the iconic moving and still images from the world of surfing and action sports. This includes our extensive archives of completed films, raw footage, 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, videotapes, slides and photographs, housed in the Nalu Vault.
We celebrate the incredible skills of athletes, filmmakers, and photographers from the global action sports community, which encompasses surfing and related water sports, skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, and more. Through our efforts, we aim to safeguard these important archives for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.

The Nalu Film Foundation is dedicated to preserving archival collections related to surfing and action sports. We achieve this by scanning films, slides, and photographs, as well as digitizing videos in all formats.
Our goal is to create a searchable database that allows for easy access to these collections. All archives are backed up to LTO (Linear Tape-Open) technology and securely stored in a climate-controlled environment to ensure the preservation of iconic and historical action sports archives for future generations.
